Lesson in Violence is a hardcore raiding guild on Trollbane (U.S.) Horde side dedicated to experiencing the new end-game content of The Wrath of the Lich King expansion pack while fostering mature and rewarding friendships in a team atmosphere.
Working together in new and exciting dungeons, raids, and PvP encounters are means; having fun and success is the end – loot is the secondary reward of our labors. We expect maturity, civility, dedication, and the ability to pay attention, learn dynamically and also to poke fun at yourself when needed.
It is your choice how active you are, and how much you participate in raids. We recruit raiders, but we realize that things can, and do, come up. While you will not get gkicked for missing raids, please realize that the remainder of the guild can not sit idle, waiting for your return. Raiding, especially later instances, require people to farm consumables and strive for the best gear they can. That is how Blizzard designed them, not because of a decision made by your guild management, and you will still be expected to grind for them while in LiV.
To that end, we do set gear requirements and expect members to have consumables on hand in raids. During the raid you must pay attention and your play should not be interrupted. We raid 25-man instances 4 nights a week, and 10-man instances when it is convenient. However, we have no attendance policy for our casual members, you may show up to as little or as many as you want. But for that latitude, you have to expect that you may not find a raid spot every time.
Understand however, that is is the player’s responsibility to align their goals with how much effort they put in. If I only played once a week and did not meet raiding requirements, then my goals for the month would be something like:
- Replace my wrist slot with a 78 or higher blue item.
- Farm a primal might.
And that’s it. One step at a time. Your choice how involved you can get. If you can’t commit to farming every week for raids, then choose to only raid twice a month, and prepare for those. If you don’t get drafted for whatever reason when you signed up, then just pick another date later to use those resources you farmed. If you don’t know what your goals should be, then you should speak to your class leader or an officer for some direction.
This doesn’t mean casual players will never be eligible to raid with the more hardcore members, that just means they may not necessarily get in there first. If you cannot commit to the level of play seen by hardcore members, then obviously your goals should be set accordingly.
Even the most casual, or PvP-oriented players have a place here. Raiders need pals to help them farm, or grind 5-man instances, they need bodies that are still fresh and interested to join along with them. Some “off-spec” players may need PvP gear for raiding. That is what the rest of you are here for, to support the goals of those that can commit to raiding.
One more time for emphasis: your goals for being in this guild must align with how much effort you can commit to. The fact that you can choose how much effort that is why we differentiate ourselves dfrom many other hardcore guilds.
A Lesson in Violence Member is Expected To:
1) Display mature, reasonable behavior.
2) Contribute in at least some small way to the raiding effort. (see above section)
3) Install mandatory add-ons. (Links can be found on our website).
4) Not apply to other guilds while wearing our tag.
Applying to other guilds while still utilizing the advantages of LiV is disrespectful to the Guild members. If you want to pursue greener pastures, I wish you well, but Lesson in Violence’s efforts are not going to help you get there or make your gear better for your application with Fancy BigGuild.
5) Check our website/forums every day.
Important information, instance schedules, and general guild conversation take place here.
6) Help and be considerate of your guildmates.
If you’re in a zone and someone asks for help, HELP THEM!
Passing on gear that’s a major upgrade for a guildmate while only a minor upgrade for you (or not really tailored to your spec) is a common occurrence in Lesson in Violence and a major testament of character.
Guild members found to be pilfering gear, selling things on the side, saying they need something then auctioning it to get money, etc, will be dealt with swiftly and severely. We’re a team. Make the TEAM better, not just yourself.
7) Listen and follow directions in appropriate tactical situations such as raids and PvP parties.
In return, Lesson in Violence members can expect:
1) To be treated with respect.
2) To have your concerns heard (at appropriate times) and considered for action.
3) To have a rewarding time online with friends.
